I have to admit for that for a long time I had no idea what “editorial” meant, let alone editorial photography or editorial writing. It’s just so incredibly broad. To this day, my primary understanding of editorial photography is just “Not Advertising” in print and publication. The other common definition of editorial photography that I find online is photography that goes with an article or a story, or a photograph that represents a story. I like the sound of that – a photograph that represents a story.

So it’s become my favourite genre of photography, despite how broad it is. It’s essentially the right for photographers to be creative, imaginative and tell a story in the wildest ways. I personally love shooting situations that may not necessarily be real, or are outlandish or completely impractical in the real world – sort of like, creating a dream if you will. But I still love photographing the simpler stories, where the story really lies in the details.
